SUMMARY:Trip #2 - David Thompson Trail Maintenance Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join the Great Divide Trail Association for a self-supported ma
 intenance trip on the David Thompson Heritage Trail. Self-supported trips 
 have few camp facilities and a more independent and flexible camp experien
 ce. These are preferred trips for experienced volunteers. Volunteers are e
 xpected to be able to hike up to 10 km per day carrying a daypack and tool
 s. OHV support will be available to bring in camping gear and supplies to 
 camp. The crew will be clearing brush and deadfall\, repairing washed out 
 tread\, assessing the crossings over Cairnes Creek and the Blaeberry River
  and making improvements as required.&nbsp\;\n\n 	Volunteers are responsib
 le for bringing their own clothing and camping gear\, e.g. tent\, sleeping
  bag.\n 	Volunteers are responsible for bringing and cooking their own foo

  GDT at the Wings Over the Rockies Nature Festival\n\nJenny Feick is an en
 vironmental biologist and geographer whose career with Parks Canada and th
 e B.C. Ministry of Environment gave her field experience and an understand
 ing of land use and policy issues in the mountains of western Canada. As p
 art of the history of Canada’s Great Divide Trail\, she served on the cr
 ew that scouted the route for the GDT between Banff and Waterton in 1974. 
 She became one of the founders of the Great Divide Trail Association\, whi
 ch celebrates its 50 th anniversary in April 2026.  She is the compiler a
 nd editor of Tales from the Great Divide\, the definitive reference on the
  history of Canada’s GDT and the GDTA. A keen naturalist\, her “Nature
  of the Great Divide series” is on the GDTA’s YouTube Channel. She and
  her husband Ian Hatter love exploring the mountains in the Invermere area
  where they have lived since 2021.
