  • July 10 and 24;
  • August 7 and 24;
  • September 12.

How it works

Fill out and submit the Elk Pass Trailhead Resupply Booking Form below. Once your booking form has been received, you will receive an email from the Resupply Coordinator who will confirm package mailing and payment instructions. Resupply service is only confirmed upon receipt of payment.

As always, hikers are encouraged to ship their package as early as possible to ensure delivery. Canada Post deliveries continue to be sluggish after a year of strikes and union challenges.

Contact elkpass@greatdividetrail.com if you have any questions or problems with the booking form.

FAQ

A: Choose an earlier delivery date. For example, you will be in the Elk Pass area the first of July but the July booking date isn’t until the second week of July. Choose a June delivery date to ensure your box is in place for when you pass through the area.

A: The Elk Pass Trailhead Resupply is 24/7! Once your box has been delivered at the trailhead lockers you will receive the locker number and lock code via text so that you can access your package anytime.

A: You will receive confirmation of payment/service request, as well as a confirmation that your package has been received. During the booking process you will have the option to include a number at which the Resupply Coordinator can text you a delivery confirmation and information about how to access your package – locker number and code. For communicating with the Resupply Coordinator while on the GDT, it is recommended you use a satellite communication device — e.g. inReach — to ensure you can send and receive messages when out of cell service. Please ensure you provide the number of your satellite communication device to the Resupply Coordinator prior to your trip.

A: No, this is not possible. In previous years this has led to unsustainable operation of the Elk Pass Trailhead Resupply. Packages will be delivered on 7 set dates over the course of the hiking season: June 8 and 28, July 10 and 24, August 7 and 24, and September 12.

A: This service is not being explicitly offered this year. You are welcome to ask for other items (e.g. candy, beer, lighter) to be included in your resupply but they will need to be paid for in advance and it is at the discretion of the Resupply Coordinator to accept or refuse a request outside of the resupply box and fuel canister services.

A: It is the responsibility of all hikers to ensure their package is shipped with enough time to arrive before their chosen delivery date. If your package isn’t received in time, there are no refunds for this service. In these unfortunate circumstances, you will be able to pick up your package from the Resupply Coordinator in person in Calgary or have the package sent to you at your expense. The cost to reship the package will need to be paid in advance.

A: If your GDT trek is cut short, there are no refunds for this service. You can inform the Resupply Coordinator that you will no longer be passing through the Elk Pass area, they will remove your box from the locker and bring the package back to Calgary. You will be able to pick up your package from the Resupply Coordinator in person in Calgary or have the package sent to you at your expense. The cost to reship the package will need to be paid in advance.
