Join the Great Divide Trail Association and Friends of Jasper for a self-supported maintenance trip in the Maligne Valley. Self-supported trips have few camp facilities and a more independent and flexible camp experience. These are preferred trips for experienced volunteers. Volunteers are expected to be able to hike up to 10 km per day carrying a daypack and tools. The crew will be clearing brush and deadfall, repairing washed out tread.
- Volunteers are responsible for bringing their own clothing and camping gear, e.g. tent, sleeping bag.
- Volunteers are responsible for bringing and cooking their own food.
- While trail building experience is not mandatory, volunteers should have experience backcountry camping and hiking.
- Trips are free for GDTA Members.
- Carpooling assistance will be coordinated by the GDTA this year for those interested.
- The GDTA will provide all trail maintenance tools, tool training, and safety orientation for all trips.
