Join the Great Divide Trail Association for a self-supported maintenance trip on Cache Creek Trail. The crew will be clearing brush and deadfall, and making improvements to the Cache Creek campground. Self-supported trips have few or no camp facilities and a more independent and flexible camp experience. Volunteers are expected to be able to hike up to 5 km per day carrying a daypack and tools. This is a preferred trip for experienced volunteers. We require at least one volunteer with chainsaw training certification. If you’re interested in getting trained and certified to use a chainsaw, let us know!
- Volunteers are responsible for bringing their own clothing, cooking and camping gear, e.g. stove, fuel, tent, sleeping bag.
- Volunteers are responsible for bringing and cooking their own food.
- While trail building experience is not mandatory, volunteers should have experience backcountry camping and hiking.
- Trips are free for GDTA Members.
- Carpooling assistance will be coordinated by the GDTA this year for those interested.
- The GDTA will provide all trail maintenance tools, tool training, and safety orientation for all trips.
