Join the Great Divide Trail Association for a backcountry walking trip, maintaining trail in Height of the Rockies Provincial Park. Backcountry walking trips offer a unique experience for a mobile crew, performing light trail maintenance while hiking 10-15 kilometres per day on the GDT. Camp location moves daily and participants are responsible for their own gear and food. This trip model is designed for small crews where backpacking experience and a higher level of fitness is required.
- Volunteers are responsible for bringing their own clothing, cooking and camping gear, e.g. stove, fuel, tent, sleeping bag.
- Volunteers are responsible for bringing and cooking their own food.
- While trail building experience is not mandatory, volunteers must have experience backcountry camping and hiking.
- Trips are free for GDTA Members.
- Carpooling assistance will be coordinated by the GDTA this year for those interested.
- The GDTA will provide all trail maintenance tools, tool training, and safety orientation for all trips.
